SafeGuard Cloud
Ultimate protection from bot scraping and AI.
AI scrapes web pages for information without giving any reference to its origin, making your intellectual property useless.
Web scraping has been a problem for years but now that web search is undermined by AI, it is time to take preventative measures. Swarms of bots and web scrapers of are profiting from our content and it getting for free.
AI bots and search engines, especially those with ad services, are making millions from our content and while they do share some of the revenue with affiliated websites, returns are ever diminishing.
How To Stop The Pillage?
Webmasters are finally banding together to get what they see as "plagiarism and exploitation" addressed from legal perspectives. But we have already seen how ineffective Copyright laws are, and watched on as the big players merely pay a fine to continue exploiting us. The use of robots.text and rel=nofollow can only draw attention to what we want ignored!
A better solution would be to turn the tables completely and take control over which content can be accessed and by whom, in such a way that we can ensure that they pay us for access rights.
The Best Solution
While the best solution might sound like "DRM" which can get complicated, employing the SafeGuard Cloud service is actually much simpler.
The SafeGuard Cloud service creates a secure tunnel between your website and the user's desktop in which nothing can be scraped in any way, and as the site owner, you have total control over who can access it, how and for how long, with immediate effect on any changes to your requirements.
SafeGuard Cloud Features
The SafeGuard Cloud service provides all of the usual benefits of cloud hosting like DDoS protection and faster downloads for your site visitors, but with additional options for access rights control:
- Public * - vanilla cloud service accessible to everyone including search engines.
- Bot Protection - encrypted pages that can only be accessed by users with ArtisBrowser installed.
- Copy Protection - encryption pages with copy protection that can only be accessed while using ArtisBrowser.
- DRM Protection - encryption pages that require a DRM Token for access while using ArtisBrowser.
* Public access rights are provided as a option to enable websites to use apply DDoS protection across the whole of their website, while protecting specific pages or sections. However it does require DNS redirection (for proxy service), whereas the SafeGuard Cloud service can be employed by merely adding some HTML to nominate which pages/sections are to be protected.
Bot Protection
SafeGuard Cloud prevents access to all bots and scrapers by initally checking the footprint of the web browser. If it is indeed ArtisBrowser, then our server delivers an encrypted web page that only ArtisBrowser can decrypt and display according to your preferences.
DRM Protection
When pages are tagged for DRM protection, each user is required to have a DRM Token giving them the right to access and view your page (or collection of pages). DRM Tokens can be provided for individual users or networks. Tokens for individual users use unique fingerprinting for identification, while Tokens assigned to an IP address or network enable access to any services that have fixed IP addresses like search engines and AI bots.
All DRM Tokens can be managed with total control over all aspects with immediate effect when any changes are made. For example if anyone, including the Gods of the Internet, do not honour their agreement, you can suspend their access until they do.
DRM Tokens can be created with expiry that requires renewal per month or per year. Or they can be assigned per number of hits, ie: total number of visits allowed.
Copy Protection
SafeGuard Cloud is provided by ArtistScope, the world leading developer of copy protection for the Internet since they invented it in 1998. Their enterprise solution, the ArtistScope Site Protection System (ASPS) provides the most securely copy protected viewing environment ever imagined. ASPS server modules are available for all Windows, Linux and Nginx servers, and the ArtisBrowser is available for all devices including Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
Nominating Which Pages To Protect
The easiset way to get started is to add a meta-tag to the pages that you want to protect. That tag can be added manually (hard=coded) or dynamically by using a plugin for a popular CMS like WordPress. Then from your dashboard at safeguard.media you can nominate which OS/devices and which services/bots are allowed access.
Test Your Site
Nominate a url like https://example.com/ or https://example.com/page.html
- Select an authorised site from the dropdown menu, or
- Nominate a link (may not be authorised).
The Alternatives
There are none. If you allow access to your intellectual property to normal web browsers there is nothing you can do to stop the pillage.
Frequent Questions and Answers
- Does DNS need to change to cater for proxy server like other cloud services?
No. Any web page can use SafeGuard Cloud by simply adding some code to the page. That code can be added manually for static pages or added dynamically using scripting. For CMS like WordPress plugins are available to nominate which pages are to be protected and the options to apply. Pages can be nominated by url or a keyword common to the page's url. - Can any web page use the SafeGuard Cloud service?
Yes. Any web page can be delivered providing that its HTML complies with WW3 standards. - Can users with normal web browsers access SafeGuard Cloud pages?

Yes. You can click for an online demo and input any web page that you like. Or you register a demo account to explore the different options and settings that can be applied. - Can usage be metered for periodical billing?
Yes. All accounts log the number of hits per month and overall total. However logging for DRM Tokens is more sophisticated for the management of usage per client/network, governed by periodic expiry or pre-purchased hits, including notification for renewal. - What can be done if an AI bot cancels or breaches policy?
That will be depend on your agreement with them. If you dealt directly using your own agreement, hopefully it included an appropriate clause. If you use the SafeGuard Cloud billing system then you are recommended to use the agreement that is provided. - Can SafeGuard Cloud be liable for breaches of contract?
