When an ASPS website is licensed not all web pages are copy protected automatically because doing so could lock out the site owner. Only the web pages that a site owner nominates will be protected, thus leaving plenty of room for doorway pages and searchable content.

How to nominate pages to be protected

Web pages do not need to be modified more than including a meta-tag at the top of the page's HTML. That tag tells the ASPS server filter to encrypt the HTML and it also tells the ArtisBrowser that it is an ASPS page that needs to be decrypted. Other meta-tags can allow or disallow actions such as copy and print and even allow/disallow the device device whether it be Windows, Mac, Android or iOS (iPad and iPhone).

How to add the meta-tags

ASPS meta-tags can be added manually or dynamically. Site owners can add the meta-tags conditionally using any scripting at their disposal. Otherwise site owners using one of the popular CMS like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla or Moodle can use the ASPS Tag Management plugin.

ASPS Tag Management

The ASPS Tag Management plugin allows site owners to nominate urls or keywords found in urls. For example if the keyword "lesson" is nominated then all web pages that include the word "lesson" in their url (link) will be copy protected.

Without ASPS installed on your server the plugin will do nothing for you other than show you the options in the settings page. When you do have ASPS you will be provided the plugin to suit your CMS such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla or Moodle. The settings available can be seen below:

You can nominate full urls or keywords found in the url the pages that you want to protect. For example if all pages are in a folder called "courses" then all of those pages can br protected by simply nominating "courses".

Note: it is not a good idea to copy protect the whole site unless you want to block search engines from everything!
